Race Series Details

Registration Details

Individuals

Individuals are automatically entered into the series via their participation in any series event.

It’s helpful for individuals to register for events with a consistent name. Final results are not guaranteed with inconsistent names (Matt vs Matthew).

Teams

Teams must register by January 6, 2026 for all event points to be counted (points from previous races prior to January 6, 2026 will be counted retroactively.)

If teams register after January 6, 2026, only event points on or after their date of registration will be counted.

Teams do not need to register as a team through the specific events.

Team Criteria - 10 person capacity; 5 male, 5 female - non-binary persons welcome in either category. You can have fewer members- these are the maximum numbers.

Scoring Points

Individual Placement Points

All events are scored separately for different genders.

Every individual who races in a series event is considered a participant, so points will be assigned to each racer (even if they have never heard of the Tour de Finn!)

Every targeted race in the series generates placement points.e.g. In a field of 50:1st place receives 100 points2nd place, 98 points3rd place, 96 pointse.g. In a field of 200:1st place receives 100 points2nd place, 99.5 points3rd place, 99 pointsThe number of points a racer receives is: 100 * (1 - ((place - 1) / number of participants))The number of points a racer can receive for completing an event is floored at 20 (e.g. the last place racer will receive 20 points instead of 0)Every racer beyond the 20 points continues to receive 20 points for participation.Racers will receive 20 points for participating in a series race event. For example, at the Vasaloppet USA, the 35K skate race will generate placement points up to 100, but a racer could do the 42K and still receive 20 points. There is an age advantage, which is simply points added to a racer's score, for every race they participate in. The age advantage is:Where the total score, with the advantage, is capped at 100A 45 year old gets no age bonusA 50 year old gets a 5 point increase for every race they participate ine.g. If a 50 year old scored 80 points by placement, their total would be 85 pointsA 60 year old gets a 15 point increaseA 70 year old gets a 25 point increase<= 45 years old: 0 points> 45 years old: (age - 45)e.g.Age advantages do not apply to event incentives.
